Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Sky Tires handles personal information. It covers information collected through this website, over the phone, and at our counter at 621 37 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2M1.
As a private-sector business operating in Alberta, we handle personal information under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where that Act applies instead.
You can reach the person responsible for privacy questions at Sky Tires by calling (403) 988-6174 during opening hours, by emailing Aj.ainy1999@gmail.com, or by writing to us at the shop address above.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to quote a job, do the work, and reach you about it afterwards.
Information you give us
- Through the contact form on this site: your name, your phone number, your message, and your email address if you choose to add one. The email field is optional and the form says so.
- By email: whatever you put in a message you send to Aj.ainy1999@gmail.com, including your email address and anything you attach.
- On the phone or at the counter: your name and phone number, and vehicle details such as year, make, model, tire size and wheel size.
- When we do work on your vehicle: the service performed, the parts and tires supplied, the date, and the invoice. Depending on the job this can include your licence plate number or vehicle identification number, which we record so the work order matches the right vehicle.
- If you pay by card: the transaction is processed by our payment terminal provider. We receive a receipt showing an approval and the last digits of the card. We do not see, keep or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs when a page is requested. These logs can include your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, the referring page, and basic browser and device information. We use them to keep the site running and to investigate errors and abuse, not to build a profile of you.
What we do not collect
- We do not ask for, and have no reason to hold, government identification numbers, banking details, or health information.
- We do not buy contact lists, and we do not sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.
Why we collect it
We use personal information for these purposes and no others:
- To answer your question, quote a price, or book you in.
- To perform the service you asked for, and to contact you during the job if something needs a decision from you.
- To produce an invoice and keep the business records that tax and accounting rules require us to keep.
- To handle a warranty claim, a follow-up such as a wheel re-torque, or a safety recall affecting a product we supplied.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations in Alberta.
If we ever want to use your information for a genuinely new purpose, we will ask you first.
Consent, and taking it back
When you send us the contact form, call us, or hand us your keys, you are consenting to us using your information for the purposes set out above. That consent is limited to those purposes.
You can withdraw consent at any time by telling us, subject to reasonable notice and to any legal or contractual limits. Call (403) 988-6174, email Aj.ainy1999@gmail.com, or tell us at the counter. Be aware that withdrawing consent can make it impossible for us to finish a job in progress or to honour a warranty claim, because we would no longer hold the record the claim depends on.
Marketing: we do not run email marketing campaigns. If we ever start, it will be opt-in, and every message will carry a working unsubscribe link as Canada’s anti-spam legislation requires. A call or text about your own vehicle, your quote, or your appointment is not marketing and will continue either way.
Information handled outside Alberta
Some of the service providers above operate, or store data, outside Alberta and outside Canada. PIPA requires us to tell you this, and to tell you how to ask about it.
While your information is in another country, it is subject to that country’s laws, and a court, a government or a law enforcement agency there may be able to obtain access to it under those laws. We choose providers that commit to protecting the information they hold for us, but we cannot override foreign law.
Our email provider is one of these. If you want to know which other providers are involved, where they are located, or how their handling of your information works, call (403) 988-6174 and ask. We will tell you.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires, whichever is longer.
- Contact form messages, emails and quote enquiries that do not turn into a job: kept while we follow up, then deleted.
- Invoices, work orders and service records: kept for at least six years, because Canadian tax rules require business records to be retained for six years from the end of the tax year they relate to. These records are also what lets us stand behind a warranty claim later.
- Server logs: kept for a short period by our host and then rotated out.
When information is no longer needed, we destroy, erase or anonymise it. Paper work orders are shredded.
How we protect it
We use safeguards appropriate to how sensitive the information is. In practice that means:
- This website is served over HTTPS, so anything you type into the contact form is encrypted in transit.
- Paper work orders and invoices are kept in the office, not left on the counter or in the bays.
- Digital records are on password-protected devices and accounts, and access is limited to the people who need it to do their job.
- Card payments run through the terminal provider, so full card numbers never enter our own systems.
No safeguard is perfect. If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta as PIPA requires.
Seeing your information, and correcting it
Under PIPA you have the right to:
- Ask what we hold about you and get a copy of it, along with an account of how it has been used and who it has been disclosed to.
- Ask us to correct it if it is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete it, subject to the retention periods above and to any legal reason we have to keep it.
Make the request by calling (403) 988-6174, by emailing Aj.ainy1999@gmail.com, or in writing to Sky Tires, 621 37 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2M1. Please describe the information you are after so we can find it. We may need to confirm who you are before we hand anything over.
We will respond within 45 days, which is the deadline PIPA sets. If we need an extension, or if we have to refuse part of a request, we will tell you in writing and explain why. Access is free in most cases; if a request requires substantial work we will give you a written cost estimate first and let you decide before we start.
If you are not satisfied with how we handled your request or your complaint, you can ask the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta to review it.
Children
This website and our services are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through this site, call (403) 988-6174 and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The version on this page is always the current one, and the date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will make that clear rather than letting it slip by quietly. This version is effective August 10, 2026.
